On My Knees Poem by Rubaba Mmahajia Rahma Sabtiu

On My Knees

They treated me badly
And I yearned to treat others well
They showed me pain
And I wanted to kill everybody’s pain
They troubled me
And I learnt to seek for help from God
Every day I look up
Every day I get to know Him more
He gave me all the love I needed
He repaid my life with a good heart
They taught me to be kind and appreciate kindness
Because they were rude to me
I didn’t tell anyone my problems
Allah knew it all
They punished me to go on my knees
From there I was humbled
To see the greatness of the distance from the ground to the sky and beyond
On my knees, I gave a silent prayer
Help me God!
And He answered, my prayer and yours
