Humayun Kabir's
Mahatma and Other Poems
I see it from far
With a view to leaving,
Going through the pages
As for to flip over to
But something lets me not
Which the critics too would have missed
To have the draughts of.
After having dedicated to Premendra Mitra,
He starts with a poetic tribute
To Mahatma Gandhi,
But the poems are no less
So packed with meaning,
Thought and idea and reflection
As and when we go through
Trains, After Schools, Life, Bewitched,
The Ship, Faith, Parting.
Invocation, Twilight, Frustration. The Quest,
The Flower and the Sea, Spectre, Prisoners,
Doubts, Wanderlust, Taj Mahal Jahan Ara,
The Koel, The Voyage, The Padma,
I just see the collection
With the sketches drawn in word
And the poetic image reflected upon.
