On Retrieving My Heart Poem by Syed Ishfaq Fazili

On Retrieving My Heart

Rating: 5.0

In waiting, the wild days of separation pass away
For your glance that all at once like the lightening appears
Sun, moon and stars_all do sit in audience
And the stage burns by your short presence
In the desert of my heart
The colour of the sky turns crimson
Iron trickles down over my cheeks
By those hot and heavy drops I make ablution
Ah, I can't keep my eyes open
But I know in the millionth part of a second
It stays in this barren desert
Yet keeps memories for centuries
After see my donned dress mingled with burning skin
Like the lofty trees bordering the hell
And there hefty leaves weaving over the fire
Burning my heart in this inferno
Later why angels come
To search in cinders my heart
When they know what is conflagration?
Perhaps they too know that
The divine conflagration is itself the retrieval.
