On That Summers Early Eve Poem by Steve Morales

On That Summers Early Eve

.....in the still after glow
with a soft ocean breeze,
gliding, cooling, caressing our skin.
Laughing, smiling, a gentle kiss
the warmth of your smile, the touch of your hand,
more vivid now since that long ago eve.....

I think of you often, I think of you well,
I do wonder as days go by
Does an afternoon ray, warm and inviting,
harken you back to that time since past.....

And now my days, once bright, now gray
hasten along towards that setting sun.
But as I walk, still proud and tall,
memories drift back to that sun lit day:
The breeze, the laughter, that tender kiss
a dream of what might possibly be.
Time has past, but still I cling
to a distant love, on that summers early eve....
