On That Very Night Poem by Aamir Abdullah

On That Very Night

Rating: 5.0

On that very night
Sat owls, in an eternal silence
Bats hanging from the stiff branches
Looked like they were
Meditating for ages
Wrinkled sand in each of its grain
Had words unspoken
Words, once a dust devil stole
From a virgin's lips
The camels were breathing the sand out
In an exhausting sleep
Dreaming of the endless journeys

On that very night
I was sitting by the broken Pillars
Which once stood straight and firm
Pillars, which held the God's throne
I was sitting by the debris
Which had swallowed both
The heavens and the hell...!
