On The Death Of Ella Fitzgerald

ON THE DEATH OF ELLA FITZGERALD

How can a person who creates such Beauty die?
How can a person who brings so much joy to others
Simply be gone?
Like dog horse rat monkey fly mosquito worm-
How can a being so beautiful in soul
So gentle in manner and form
So pure in voice and tone
So great
How can such a person age and die?

Why why why
Is such beauty born
If it will one day no longer be here?
Why such a being such a life
Why does such a person have to die?
