On The Night That You Are Not On My Side Poem by RIC BASTASA

On The Night That You Are Not On My Side

last night
the bed feels like a glass
without water
the blankets are like eyes
seeing a blank ceiling
the lampshade has a tongue
of light untalking
the floors are indifferent
the door is hinting
about what hate can do
to the windows that close
like fists

the heart grips for a hold
on its veins
tears want to see the
waterfalls
the mouth bites itself
the teeth gnashes
to a steady gum

simply because you are
not with my side.
