On The Streets Poem by Gary Bernard

On The Streets

I am homeless - an addict
Still a human being

I am homeless - mental illness
Still a human being

I am homeless - abused
Still a human being

I am homeless - lost my job
Still a human being

I am homeless - an outcast
Still a human being

I am homeless - misfit - do not fit in
Still a human being

I am homeless - afraid to go back
Still a human being

I am homeless - cannot pay my rent
Still a human being

I am homeless -surviving racism
Still a human being

I am homeless -my sexuality is a problem
Still a human being

I am homeless - a single mother
Still a human being

I am homeless - not a lazy person
Still a human being

I am homeless - parents kicked me out
Still a human being

I am homeless - too old to start over
Still a human being

I am homeless - physically disabled
Still a human being

I am homeless - once had dreams too
Still do
