On The Wind Poem by moon dust

On The Wind

Summer fields full of wildflowers
Dry earth beneath our skin
Oceans of sky above us
Scent of smoke on the wind

We had to hide away
And we're halfway from nowhere
And halfway to where we're going
Not a soul in the world can find us
You and me on the run

Yea we were young
You offered everything to me
Showed me how to love
How to be free
You took me to your lands
And your people welcomed me

You taught me of your ways
And I taught of mine
It didn't matter where we came from
We were one day from where we started
And years from where we were going
The only colors that mattered
Were those of the rising suns
And we spent many together
We spent our days on the run

Cliffs towering over grey waters
Icy wind burning our skin
A sea of sky above us
Smoke on the wind.
