On This Suddenly Sunny/ Surprisingly Beautiful Friday Spring Day

On this suddenly sunny
Surprisingly beautiful Friday spring day
I think of my Jerusalem friends
Allyn Rothman Larry Besserman Moshe Bobrowsky
Yaakov Fogelman David Hertzberg
And how they would have enjoyed this day-

I think of myself on a similar day
A few years from now
And how I would have enjoyed it-

Oh God who gives us a life
Which has such beauty and pleasure in it
Why do You take it away from us
When we still want it so much?
