Once 2 Poem by Rosalinda Flores Martinez

Once 2

I don't believe in intimacy, anymore,
but there you are.
Once in a ritual we became too close
Breath was the only wall that separated faces.
Once in the cold it was only your chest
Your arms in a dream of moving hills.
In the night the heat of body roused full of might
Your ears fragile to a scream of song -
Of a once weary secret.
Raindrops falling, the muse wrote
In your bed, in between your legs.
The night unraveled closer
Like waves beneath your back
Your heart so meek way beyond a child's
of once dull days
uncovering the haze
of a beautiful dawn.
