Once Were Warriors Poem by Christopher Tye

Once Were Warriors

Once Were Warriors

Remember the ancient times,
Back in the Eighteenth Dynasty,
When we were warrior kings and gods,
With the whole world at our feet.

Now that time and fate,
Have played their deadly hands,
And our empire has crumbled into dust,
All that's left is our heroic hearts,
And that fateful knowledge,
Of what we once were.

Still the hearts of warriors beat inside us,
Weakened by time and fate,
The last survivors of the once,
Unconquerable Eighteenth Dynasty,
All the centuries of knowledge,
Running through our veins,
As we slip away to forever rest.
