One Day Poem by Madi Lynn

One Day

I've learned to close off my heart
You can't buy my kisses like candy at a mini-mart
Your words are going to be taken with a grain of salt
Even though it may not be exactly your own fault
Your not gonna be trusted by me
Don't worry, it ain't your personality
Past pains stick around
To those freaking memories I'm still bound
Maybe one day I'll let em go
But right now all I want is your respect for me to show
Almost all guys are cheaters, I'm sorry to say
Throwing me around like a game they play
Why do they think they have that right?
Is there a way I can stand up and fight?
I'll just keep on guarding my heart
So that:
One day I'll trust, one day I'll be loved, one day I'll be respected
