Just one floor above me
There’s a woman I wish would love me
I can hear her pacing the floor
I know its 32 steps to her door
I sit alone staring at the moon
Hoping the sun will weak soon
She’s not that far away
Today could be the day
That I carry her groceries upstairs
See her smile, smell her hair
See her frolic in the park
Instead of dreaming of her after dark
Yes I must be dreaming
Living in a real fantasy
But to love just once
Would fill my life with ecstasy
Ten feet above me
Is she thinking of me
When will I get the nerve to speak
Express the feelings that I seek
Before my knees get weak
I‘ve got to end this losing streak
It’s not a long way down
For her to come around
We could have a beer or two
Not too many just a few
Don’t want to get into a drinking bout
And let all my hidden secrets out
Yes I must be dreaming
Living in a world so untrue
But to love just once
I’m finding it long overdue
