One Kind Word Today - Poem by Sallie Lee Short

You get out of bed to start a new day, before you know it something gets in your way.
You can't find this and you can't find that. The dog keeps barking, and has scared the cat.
Just when you are ready to leave, you discover you can't find your car keys.
Whatever words you say, let it be one kind word today.
The traffic rush is always a mess. The long drive to work, just leaves you stressed.
You stop to let a motorist in, at least this makes you feel good within.
Just when you try to settle down, along comes this motorist acting like a clown.
Whatever words you say, let it be one kind word today.
You love your job, don't mind going to work,
even though one of your coworkers walks around acting like a jerk.
You work hard, trying to get in good with the new boss, tons of paper work,
and the one you need most seems to be lost.
Whatever words you say, let it be one kind word today.
Words of many, you may say few, the words you use is a reflection of you.
Words of love, words of cheer, eliminate words that are harsh, or smear.
Whatever words you say, let it be one kind word today.
