One Love Poem by Dawn alsop

One Love

Oh heart, that you could ever love like.
Surrender now, surrender to love's kiss.
If when in doubt, be ever kind and true.
Know above all else that he loves you.
It is with joy he bids your tremblings cease.
He'll take you in his arms and give you peace.
To face the world again, to carry on.
He'll hold you till each little tear has gone.
He'll walk beside you through life's weary way.
He'll be beside you, at the closing of the day.
Fulfil your wish and every sweet desire.
The years will never quench the burning fire
that lives within his heart, alone for you.
Be still my heart, for love will see you through.
When death doth come and threaten to divide,
and you must heal the hurt that's left inside.
Hold out thy hand and beckon death's dark face,
that leads you to a warm and promised place.
Tread softly then, through heaven's open door,
to reunite with those who've gone before.
If when inside you see that life is grand,
dear heart, just call for me and take my hand.
For I will dither till my Saviour's call,
before renouncing life, and love and all.
