One More Day Poem by Mary Rodriguez

One More Day

Being with you is when I feel whole
Consuming loneliness gets so old
Things just aren't what they used to be
The love of my life has slipped away from me
Your love takes me where I've never been
How I want that feeling again
Missing you for way too long
You've had my heart all along
Some treat love as if it's a game
Rarely felt by two people the same
The road you've been dealt has been long
The time has come for you to be strong
Nothing is lost, it can always be found
Stand tall, stand your ground
Know you are not on your own
I would never want you to feel you are alone
Trust in the words that I say
We can make it through another day
I swear, it's going to be alright
I'll help you fight this fight
I'm with you every step of the way
Showing you it's going to be okay
Let me guide you through your fears
Show you the light through your tears
Look in the sky and wish on a star
Wishing the distance between us was not so far
Where the night is darkest black
The light seems farthest back
Reaching inside to hear that inner voice
Sometimes hard to hear through all the noise
Some days I"m not alright
Fighting to walk towards the light
My mind is my own worst enemy
Taking and draining me mentally
I wonder why God lets me walk through this dark place
Knowing this love can never be replaced
Inside I try to keep warm but I just grow colder
All I can do, is accept that it's over
On a path that I didn't plan
Trying to find out, just who I am
Tomorrow holds no promise of today
Trying to find the beauty in one more day
Each breath is keeping hope alive
Please don't tell me goodbye
