One More Day Poem by Kevin Patrick

One More Day

Rating: 5.0

just one more day, or one more hour
or the sliver of a minute
its all id wish to be with you again
to bath in your voice
as it washed the air with your life
and filled me with a harmony
beyond the music of any spheres
if I could catch a miracle like a butterfly
it be to hear again
your thoughts on world events
your dreams, not in past tense
or just listen in a daze
to the nectar of your sweet charm
as the timber of your lips
was like a blanket around my heart
how id give up a year
just to see you back starring in life's play
to see you move and sway in your elegant way
to know how you react to all the little facts
would you show your cracks or keep doubt behind your back
or pull the pin on your grin
and make the world spin
with that effortless flair from your heavenly glare
we could trade secrets or tell bad jokes
and laugh instead of mope
talk of friends and latest trends
arts and science and odds and ends
the only gift you have to give me is being in your presence
instead to guessing what im missing
in the ghost shaped hole
you left in my soul
for id trade a trillion to furnace
and my golden years to purchase
all the time with you
for one more day, one more hour or one more minute
