One More In Me Poem by Ike Manjo

One More In Me

I have one more in me.
I've been told.
but the energy is hard to muster
as I grow old.

weighing the worth of the next move
is a part-time job
with low pay and boss for a slob.

wrap it in wax paper.
tie it in a string
wash your hands before the door chime rings.

the weight of loving the missing.
loving the living.
saps the sentiment and fuels resentment
All i have is another shift.
Until.

my legs are tired and my feet slide on the hard wood floor like an old dog.

I have one more in me.
So i am told.
