One Morning, At Waterloo Road Poem by Lance Abellon

One Morning, At Waterloo Road

Rating: 3.5

Stop. Look. Listen.
February of 2016.
It was early morning. I am walking at the streets along Waterloo Road.
The wind was cold, the roads were empty, and the signs were clear that I was going to be a great day ahead. Cars were like fast lightning, chasing each other.
And there I am. Alone. Walking on the streets of Waterloo Road, felt like I had wings to reach my destination with anticipation for another day of exploration.
People were riding their bicycles, and off to somewhere they know.
Perhaps, they know where they are going. Their minds are focused on the road they are passing by, knowing, that it could be right.
Each road I am on, they tell me to never look back. Never look back at yesterday. Walk ahead. Always wear a smile on my face, to always look at the edge of the sun wrapped with promises of happiness.
On that morning, I found myself exploring myself.
Found out that the world is a big body of ocean, where thousands of souls get to swim, flapping their feet, so that they can easily push themselves on the edge of discovering.
I therefore found myself jumping not to conclusions, but rather, jumping to endless continuations. We are pilgrims on this life.
Never let the roads bury your stars within.

Stop. Look. Listen.
