[One shouldn't look, but I do] Poem by Vera Pavlova

[One shouldn't look, but I do]

*
One shouldn't look, but I do
at the beggar rummaging in the dump,
at the gays kissing on a bench,
at the booze-artist in a bloodstained singlet,
at the willy of an old man awaiting a trickle -
one shouldn't look. But I do.
