One Size Fits All Poem by Pierre Rausch

One Size Fits All

Dazzling white, professionally laundered
Fresh every single day
Not anything about that kind
As does his range

Coming down the carpeted stairs
One size fits all
A Barber shop quartet
Wind-up toys from Japan
Who has plans for the future
Not caring one way or the other
Takes the mechanism down the stairs
And she needs someone

It's shadow-branches in the heart
An uncertain chorus longer
To justify the words in either way
Provided solid clues on her bare arm

Coming down the carpeted stairs
One size fits all
A Barber shop quartet
Wind-up toys from Japan
Who has plans for the future
Not caring one way or the other
Takes the mechanism down the stairs
And she needs someone

What she'd anticipate in her eyes
Surviving the night, to dissolve and fade
Half-open, covered in countless shadows
How can you affect her most carefree smile

Coming down the carpeted stairs
One size fits all
A Barber shop quartet
Wind-up toys from Japan
Who has plans for the future
Not caring one way or the other
Takes the mechanism down the stairs
And she needs someone
