One Year Gone Poem by Katrina Harms

One Year Gone

Where do you live now,
Now that you've gone-
And where will you go
When the fabric of memory
Is frayed and torn?
The jokes and songs we shared,
Will they wear your face between the words
When your clothes have lost your scent
And when I call your name,
How will you answer, with no mouth-
How will I find my way back to your
Loving arms?
So loving still, now armless
I was there when they scorched you to ash
And my body quakes alone
Inside this stricken prison
Of living flesh.
How lost is this survivor‘s heart
Without beloved friend
To ease the pain of love adrift
Beyond a mortal end
