Only Today Poem by Mark. A Heathcote

Only Today

Only today, you kissed me unapologetically.
And said that you love me.
And I said Do you?

You see, no two days are ever the same.
In a woman's world.
And I am like a Whooper swan hurled back and forth,

Sometimes migrating through a storm, circling back
Sucked into a maelstrom of confusion
Do I return, stay, or go?

Only today, you kissed me unapologetically.
And said you love me.
And like a caged bird with the door left ajar.

I am confused but happy.
I have the wings for flight.
But not the inclination to leave alone.
