Only You Do Not See Poem by BASAB CHAUDHURI

Only You Do Not See

This window -
so dear to me since childhood.
Here I learnt to watch the sunrise.

My grandmother, my mother -
they are here at this window.
Only you do not see them.

I grew up here, at this window.

The day the house was sold,
I wept the whole night.
My grandmother, my mother -
they are still sitting at the window.
Only you do not see them.

My pain -
my tears -
have been flowing ever since.
Only you do not see.
Only you do not know.
