Open Hearted - Poem by Alexandra Blisse

thrill of the open hearted

little let it show

a trusted heart

keeping secrets and memories

still i dream of those

shameful memories

sleepless terror filled nights

they made me feel human

but still so alone

more alone

i needed to reconnect to those

who love me

who hate me

who believe in me

who betray me

they all play apart in me

in my life

shaping my heart

chipping away at my self concious being

we all think ill will of someone

we may not advertise

but some how we all resent

one thing or another

one cheek turned

the other cheek after

we all say theres more to us

more for others to see

but do we really let that be seen?

maybe the problem with judgement

lies not only with in others

but even deeper in us

so who is truly open hearted?
