As life is but a gilded house of clay,
Each day, a host of guests return anew,
With joys or sorrows, darkness or affray,
Each embarking from a path that's askew.
Each guest, a traveler from realms unknown,
With purpose writ in stars, beyond our shores,
Whose presence leads us to our fate foreknown,
And in whose touch, our future lies, and soars.
Come thoughts of shame, or malice strong,
Welcome them all, with humor and grace,
For every soul that sings its siren song,
Leads us to some new-found time and place.
So greet them all with love and open heart,
And let each guest be a new work of art.
2) . You have captured life in all its unpredictable diversity, and you have focussed on the key message of welcome, not hatred. Welcome is the younger sister of compassion. Compassion is joined with love. You cannot have compassion without love.
1) . Lee, you have written a superb sonnet as good as any sonnet written by Shakespearean. The imagery and flow are perfect, and is too the essence, the poem's message.
This poem has not been translated into any other language yet.
I would like to translate this poem
3) . We all walking along the same path through life, and it's better to have a welcoming attitude. We can only give 5 stars, but I would give a galaxy of stars for this great sonnet.
Thanks David. I feel really honoured by your uncommon comment. Thanks once again
