Open Your Eyes Poem by Joseph M Donatelli

Open Your Eyes

Rating: 5.0

Late afternoon long shadow blooms say
The bright sky after noon softens gray
It starts here at the edge of the queue
The sun's angle to earth is turning away
The orb falls below the mountain tops haze
Soon the Windows will blaze with lamp rays
Owls wake hooting night is their day
While weary people seek dream displays

Creatures of darkness welcome the moon
While beings of daylight take to there rooms
Exhausted thought processors keep in tune
generating tomorrow's technology boom
Still thinking reluctant to take to their beds
Soon resent the coming of morning instead
Throwing blankets over their groggy heads
While nocturnal feeders scurry for dens

From daylight to daylight night to night
A day is dawning limited hours and light
How many times have I seen the sun rise
While others were sleeping close eyed
Minutes were wasting losing limited life
As I watched orb ascending yellow bright
With new opportunities just out of site
Chance to catch them is the aware ones right
