Wallowing swallows
And vengeful vultures
Flock together on a blank sky,
Mirrored by the gleaming pond beneath.
They appear like suave flies
To the gaping knot of frogs,
Who know not to do what
To their rumbling tummies to quieten;
They jump, instinctually,
Into the pond;
And quell the hunger
Of a slumbering water snake!
