Orisabunmi Poem by Raimi Babatunde

Orisabunmi

A moment of silence
Not like in silent night
But to acknowledge and enigma
She left us with mementoes
You made our childhood worth everything
How we'll miss you - Orisabunmi.

How we sat with our torn pants
Our black and white TV, a joy to behold
Awaiting your Sweet voice and melodies
You separated evil from good
Fadeyi Oloro won't forget you in a rush
Goodnight Orisabunmi.

Is there a theatre 'ni abude orun? '
Is Pa Albert Ogunde still producing therefrom?
'Ogberis' might not connect with this
Because it is beyond 'Indomie generation'
You are an epitome of good over evil.
Goodnight Orisabunmi.

Folake 'omo' Aremu will never die
A legend whose hairstyle reigns forever
See how beautiful it looks on our maidens
How sad our maidens now adorn 'bone straight'
Nothing looks more beautiful than 'Shuku Orisabunmi'

My memories takes me to Arelu and Fopomoyo
You interpreted the scripts like no other
And brought dignity to our culture as a people
With your
portrayals and dramatizations.
You were a real life Screen goddess

'Rere le mi o ma se nko ni se ka'
'Tire ba wa di ibi, ipade dohun o'
'Ipade dohun, ipade dohun'
'Tire ba di ibi, ipade dohun oooo'
'Bio ba de orun ki o se orun re'
'Odi gbere, Orisabunmi'

Sundays in the 80s was a Christmas
As we stayed glued to 'Yonpon yonrin'
'Abija wara bi ekun, Fadeyi Oloro, Awero, Orisabunmi ti lo'
Rest on Yeye Oge of Africa
Beautiful, sleek and elegant
'Haaaaaaaa, ile n je yan! '

'Orisabunmi ti lo ni hun'
' 'Biko', ki Baba Aworo to ba d'orun alakeji o!
Your represented Oṣun Deity with grace
Please help us tell 'Orisa Oke, o to ge'
'Ki ilu naijira toro, ko tuwa lara ni ase Edumare'
'Aseeee! Sun re Omoluabi, Iya Orisa'

Orisabunmi
