Our Autumn Years Poem by Elaine Cusworth

Our Autumn Years

Rating: 3.5

OUR AUTUMN YEARS

It's time to say goodbye. Timeless days are at an end. Maybe
one last outburst of the sun as she spends her last rays. Her brilliance slowly fading, the last reflections of halcyon days
in the mirror of summer's memories. The intriguing beauty of youth, a mesmerising haze, perfecting everything that has gone before, beginning to change colour as another season opens up her door.

Time now to enjoy the fruits of our labour. The beautiful serenity of our autumn years, harvesting the past and drying the tears as we walk through the fallen leaves, turning the pages to another chapter. Feasting on our blessings and all that
we have achieved. As we savour the tranquility of each warm
and golden day…we may care to remember …or not to…
that winter is not very far away.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
We all reach 'that certain age' when it is time for us to reflect on what has gone before, to slow down and enjoy the autumn of our life.
