Our Mom Poem by Girija Menon

Our Mom

Rating: 5.0

She was married young
Soon enough motherhood begun
Three children in a row
Brings happiness and joy galore

Children grow and spread their wings
Leaving her to mind other things
Content with her surroundings
Handing routine chores without whispering
Not a word in revolt, but succumbing
Praying for only family well being

Well into her sixties still having a glow
She unfortunately turns a widow
Life comes a halt, as she lived in his shadow
Not seen the world outside her window

Life goes on with grandchildren in tow
Still content but, at times feeling low
Keeps herself busy with chores in a row
Still not knowing the world besides her own

Now into her seventies health takes a bad turn
Ill she falls, doctors are on call
Her health never returns to be normal
Nervous she is and wants to be stable

Family helps her to get over her fear
With a prayer to the lord up there
Give her good health and help stay clear
From sickness as she is very dear.

This is so full of emotion I felt like crying. You definately are gifted in exspressing yourself through your words.
