Out Of Oblivion Poem by Mark Hopwood

Out Of Oblivion

Is this what the world feels like
Trapped in darkness through the cold night
But it reaches, yes she reaches out
Into the everything to clasp the twilight
That breaks out of Oblivion.

Then there is daylight, sun, rain and clouds
The heavens smile down, infinitely proud
The trees, the grass, the birds taking flight
Then the darkness returns, through the daylight
Followed by the birth of the new night.

I wondered lonely nights
Through the darkened corridors of my mind
Somewhere inside is the place with a light to find
That will stop me falling down so low
I use what I have and learn more as I go.

Climbing out of oblivion
Like a Phoenix rising from the flames
One day I will stand up straight
One day I will feel no shame,
When I climb out of oblivion.
