Outer Space Poem by Chris Leermakers

Outer Space

Look up and outwards,
inwards and beyond
into each
magnificent star and galaxy
no matter how desolate
or how far apart they are
even for the black holes
the true souls
or we will one day know
the reaches of interstellar space
and maybe even find a wormhole

A different, intelligent and challenging living race
man might even think
he is superior
or that there is no other kind
no other kind of alien life
no matter about the thoughts
that time travel
finding their way
through our minds

Some things are left unknown
it works out best this way
for we don't want to wake up
in a different kind of day
I can't take it for granted
it makes me want to shout
that each lonely star
will someday scream
and show us its true light

The light it takes to reach us
like a great piece of a spilt line
Vast, intense, eternal and fast
It's traveling forever
all through spacetime

I think I'm going to be sick
I wonder if we ever will know
would they ever know
I wonder if they do
where can they go
without being seen
come on
can you make me proud
of being part of this race
and begin to see
what's really in outer space...?
