Over-Intellectualization Poem by Dustin Schoenfeld

Over-Intellectualization

Thin black lines etch out his light complexion.
A rough face is masked by affection.
What his wide eyes may see remains unclear.
His startled look resembles one of fear.
Lips pursed tight at the thought of the unknown.
Thick hairs stiffen on his upper backbone.
Alert ears are hidden under curls of hair.
Nostrils, concealed in dark shadows now flare.
His wonder is like that of a child.
What is before him is both tame and wild.
His understanding of reality,
Is complicated by formality.
A mystery left unsolvable through,
Over-intellectualization.
