Over Time Poem by Patrick Villareal

Over Time

Over time friends die
Floating in the blue sky
Above mortal hearts and minds
Above souls of all kinds
No matter what the hour may be
I pray they look down upon me
Look down upon the glory of my sins
Be proud of what transpires within
Watch as they see a dead man become embraced and reborn
As light shines upon the place in which I mourn
As I outlast this place of madness
Over time in unbearable sadness
I will not die.
Although ashes may rain this day
Though my branches may fall away
The clouds may shiver and cry
The soul within me will not die
Over time as I watch memories float away
In this hell bound world in which I stay.
