Oh Sweet Darkness Poem by Patrick Villareal

Oh sweet darkness I stand before you gazing into the black
Wondering if something is there; pouncing; ready to attack
I look into you as you look back with that somewhat soothing stare
Whispering to me 'you can come play with me...if you dare'
As I begin to take my first steps towards you, my heart begins to pound
Slowly making my way towards you hearing not one peep or any sort of sound
The closer I get the stronger you become it seems, like your gaining power
making what was seemed like seconds into the longest hour
Oh sweet darkness will you consume me? will you try an take me away?
Why don't you answer me? your so quiet...do you have nothing else to say?
As I look around I notice things slowly grow darker, embracing me as I stare into the night
Darkness now surrounds me with no end nor chance of turning back..I feel its might
the Abyss now looks into me as my pupils enlarge. I am now drenched in fear
With that strange sensation lurking within my skin..he now can appear...
