Overcoming Temptation Poem by Solomon C. Jatta

Overcoming Temptation

Rating: 5.0

Lingering over thousand choices
Resulting from doing good or the reverse,
Different sonorous voices
Resounding flimsy though luring opinions
Saturated my mind with deceptive bliss
Incapacitating its wretched prey
The sphere seems to contract in my dull head
Foes cladded as friends indeed unworthy of that name
Try to sway me from the celestial shores to that of the Hades,
A clear attempt to paralise my almost defunct faith

Amidst the darkness of my dilemma,
Someone switched on the lamp of truth
Via the savior’s eyes I behold the path to take.
My remorseful conscience limped for joy
As it embraces the long awaiting redemption
From that bondage that has choked man since the beginning.

Any day I fall and falter,
Am always saved
By the maker who loves all but hates sin.
Man the most loved derailed the original course
And continue to abuse his maker’s providence
Since the inception of mortal life at Eden’s Garden
