Pablo Neruda Poem by Ahmed Fouad Negm

Pablo Neruda

Chile's gunpowder
Put your promises
and grievances
among the rubbish
They massacred the rose
from the cheeks
and the green
from the hearts of little girls
Where is the security
under the reign of the ogres
You who frame
The "forever after"
The wounds haven't healed
Or been forgotten
Neither histories
Nor the museums
Imam Hussein
Spartacus
Allende
Lorca
Abdul Rahim,
the farmer in our village who was roasted
Before judgment day
In the lasting hells of Sinai
Ernesto
Guevara the Great
Khamis and Bakri
Al Shafi
Adham
And his old story
Qutb[3], the man who was afflicted
When he recited the holy book
The garnet necklace that was designed
From the times of wise Socrates
Grew today in numbers
And disciplined
With diamonds and lonely beads
Neruda
The morning piper
Neruda
The breeze's piper
Her morning is a girl
Santiago
Drinks its milk from your song
Stunned the birds were
and emigrated
When today I said your eulogy
And you are a martyr
They filled the open space with wounds
The wounded with hurt have become accustomed
Two hours to heal wound,
their stabbed backs now sing of poetry
Their hands stretch out and clutch the weapon
With the will that only the hurt possess
They stab the stabbers arteries
Processing
The hidden disease
The sun rises in the morning
Overthrowing that morning
On each hand that holds the rifle and carries the wound
holding the flutes
And the sun rises in the morning
Over the palaces
Over the homes
And the sun falls,
When it sets
On Pablo Neruda … The martyr
Cycles. You repeat the years
Our land
Mother of the boys
Cycles. You repeat the past
Our land
Mother of the girls
Catastrophes
Wars
People's hardships
Dogs
Torture
Mist
Sunset
Thunders
Lightening
Sunrise
Ascent
Struggle
Bad odds
Good odds
And justice used to be
Throughout the times
The cause
The bet
And from a long time, the earth has been the stage of fighting knights
Imam Hussein
Spartacus
Guevara
Lorca
Abdul Rahim
Neruda
The morning piper
Neruda
The breeze's piper
