Page 355

I opened the page three, five, five.
'My life in Christ' of Ioann,
and I found the exact answer
to what I was trying to find:

When you are in illness, distress -
and want to live more - then accept
what God has prepared for your life -
cause He does better than all you could plan.

This is a great title! A book is the hero of this poem, one page in particular holds the answer. There is a subtle turning in lines 5 - 6. It's commonplace to pray for divine help when you are sick or distressed. But the third cause of prayer is to achieve a fuller life. That's positive and wonderful. The purest payer is worship of God, it asks for nothing material. A prayer for a fuller life has to come in as a close second, because its request is for spiritual growth not material gain. Here's an example: Lord, you made me a limited being, and my heart cries out for the completion of your loving creation. Make my life full of your grace. Expand my mind to conceive your glory, understand your will, complete the praise I have only begun before falling silent with my in-born ignorance. Lord, grant me knowledge of your being and I will transform it into praise. Do not leave me in painful, restless ignorance. Complete my creation and I will be the better servant of your will.
