Pain Poem by Pete Rivera

Pain

Racing for your approval
Giving in to man made rules
Gesturing with fingers atop my palm
How do you now stay so calm?

Whispering secrets from ear to ear
Tell someone else to be queer
Saying I've done the unthinkable
Now on a ship unsinkable

Feelings I can't give in
Mortal feelings of pain and sin
Have me stratched up to my knees
Oh, I call, I call in need

Calling a friend of mine
Could be easy if they were kind
I speak nothing but the truth
You act like a common sleuth

Solving mysteries under my coat
Isn't easier without a boat
To sail past my pool of tears
I dress myself in several fears

Now I wrap myself in melancholy
Hear my callings to be free
You are my shot at truth and hope
Quickly now, throw the rope

So I can hoist myself
To return to commonwealth
Calling to friends not around
To chains, I must be bound
