Pandemonium Poem by The Poet Darkling

Pandemonium

Desperation, condemnation
A death defying leap of faith
Telephone call, balls to the wall
Are you an angel or a wraith?

First chew me up, then spit me out,
Eat of my flesh and drink my blood
Semper fi, are you ride or die?
Why drag my name all through the mud?

Passion's flaring, music's blaring
Redundant questions fill my brain
Love's a needle, life's a haystack
Pop the cork on some fine champagne

Muscles tensing, fists are clenching
Rabid nightmares invade my sleep
I'll ante up, you deal the cards
Play for pennies or play for keeps?

Indignation, pure frustration
Concentrate on the task at hand
Dish it out, but can you take it?
Throw in some spice if it's too bland

Heart stops beating, moment's fleeting
Better hurry or you'll be late
What is the use of this abuse?
See you later, it's time to skate…

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This is a poem meant to reflect the pandemonium inside the mind of an addict, clean or sober. I have been clean nearly 18 years, but the demons still try, so far unsuccessfully, to get back inside.
