Panguni Has Opened Its Doors To The Hot Bright Sun

'Panguni', the last chamber of the Indian year
Has opened its doors to the hot bright Sun!
'Maasi', the penultmate month had been cooler
With the Sun merciful even at eight a.m.;
Now even daybreak Sun pinches hard the flesh;
And blackens our skins with its molten silver!
Yet this is the season of 'Spring', the glory of colours!
The body rains oceans even when the day is just a toddler!
Everywhere there is thirst and sighs of tiredness!
Fear lurks every soul about still to come Summer's might!
The Sun is more thirsty chasing hot every dropp of water!
The water is on its fast heels and takes refuge into the caves of earth!
Yet this is the glorious season of Spring for us;
On the first Full-Moon day of Panguni-
The 'Festival of Colours', 'the holi' is on celebration mode
In every nook and corner of India, bathing itself in myriad colours
And in sprightly dance and boisterous laughter in total abandon!
A very true representation of Spring's colourful blooms!
It is the evening of the Spring that is glorious more;
The Wind awaits the last ray of the Sun to extinguish
When it runs here and there in happy hops and fitful runs
Spraying fragrance and flowers and coolness everywhere!
And fills the heart with a wordless peace and nameless content!
While the lips of the Earth goes dry and parched with thirst
Strange it is most of the trees clothing in fresh profuse green!
Every tree has four or five shades of healthy green;
And in total glee with chestful of buds and flowers in riotous shades!
Seems to be at its pride's best when winds pat them on their backs!
Yet some trees are in severe penance shedding in showers all their leaves
And train our thoughts along philosophical paths on cohabiting of extremes
When conditions and environment are one and the same!
O Nature! you are ever a mystery and ever a thrill to watchful minds!
