Paradise Lost Poem by pragyan rout

Paradise Lost

Rating: 5.0

the glory of the trees no more
hidden by the giants of mortar
the heavenly nature forgotten
the lineage of the past now rotten

the roots that went deep into the earth
now lay dead and lifeless
gone are the days when flowers bloomed
spreading their fragrance all around

gone are the days of butterflies and chirping birds
all that we hear now is honking of horns
and the loud voices fighting over petty matters
the cry of the wild drowning in their endless banter

surging seas now are filthy
polluted by the deeds of human beings
no more is there any pure sight
only the polluted and starless nights

the air no more clean and safe
the water no more crystal clear
the land now lays barren
heart and soul; pure no more

the man revels in the glory of his discoveries and inventions
but trees and plants are what we need most
the mother nature shunned by everyone
she is crying in despair of the paradise lost
