Part 2: Intergalactic Princess Poem by J.M Berger

Part 2: Intergalactic Princess

This exotic alien landscape
It’s almost too much to take
Awash in color,
Unlike anything I’ve seen before
Landed dizzy and disoriented in a swamp
Felt the joints ache, and the muscles start to cramp
The air, damp and moist
Thought I might have lost consciousness
When they began to hoist us in from the mud…
Almost human? Regal… soldiers pulled us up
It started to rain, and I began to shiver
On the back of some alien elephant

Arriving at the palace
In the air a bit of a malice, then- the big reveal
Beauty that catches the eye, so fierce

She had a striking physique
Though here demeanor was meek
You could tell she was a princess, uh-huh
This boy’s heart was lifted
Like through endless quicksand sifted
And you could almost see it putter in his chest
This was love, and now his thoughts were a mess

We hung around and got to talking
Turned out we had a lot in common
Ain’t it strange the things we find to share with others
Friends or lovers,
And when love is good, everything is great
Right then and there we hitched a hover-carriage
It was a shotgun (shot-laser?) marriage
A little rushed
But the doubters were hushed,
When they saw the expression on the kissing faces…

But the bliss was short-lived
How quickly things changed, as down a brutal hail rained
Seeing one’s honey hit the ground
Life leaving her eyes
The crowd’s hushed sighs…
No words for the hurt the kingdom suffered
Savage warrior beasts destroyed their state
A kingdom of peace, now in pieces
Demon warriors, from beyond
Their purpose unknown, as in an instant they were gone
And there they stood, a people lost
