Past Thoughts Poem by Ladarius Brown

Past Thoughts

Past Thoughts

I can't look myself in the mirror.

I couldn't paint the perfect picture.

If my mind was ever clearer, I would have dreams of being richer.

Not in wealth, but in spirit.

I already know I will kill it.

I shed tears with each lyric, this pain I'm feeling is unrealistic.

A gunshot to my past, I will never look back.

Broken promises from my love ones left a fiery crack.

Years of isolation has my mind off track.

The only good thing I can say is thank god is black.

I'm not ashamed of my race, it's just not the same.

I walk up & down the streets shaking my head in shame.

My generation is filled with n****s who play these games.

I contemplate in my mind, who is it to blame?

If I could have one wish, bury me in bliss.

I would spread my wings & fly far away from this s**t.

Look myself in the mirror as I feel fate's kiss.

Forgiveness for my sins, give me one last hit.

'You can't change your past, but change your future as you live in the present.' ~L
