Path To Redemption Poem by Michael Olajubu

Path To Redemption

Through the downpours and floods
that sweep away the magnificence of our birth,
through the cacophonies of bleeding mothers
whose infants and laughter are silenced by nameless triggers
we know not in the North nor in the South,

Through the brokenness of collective construct
to abide under the shadows of unity,
through the desperation of a generation
clamoring for a breath of fresh air
to sail through every lungs,
Recalling wandering will to once again believe;

To believe in the struggles of heroes past
and be not faint in heart
at the deficiencies of modern leadership.

Through all of our woes
and the agonizing validation of injustice,
through the derision of a dream
we've longed to be and long to see,
through the backwardness of our ecosystem
and the emptiness in our resolve
to speak with many tongues in one voice

Through all the floundering and the pondering,
may we find the hidden path that leads to redemption.

Known to our many 'gods' (God)in faith and convictions,
we will find no victory on our knees till we stand
and to rise from these ashes and wipe sore dust off our street,
our nation must breathe again;

Then can we soar above the dark clouds of our aged troubles.
Independence is a journey of the mind
that conveys bliss to all.
