Patriot's Duty Poem by Lorene Kinsey

Patriot's Duty

Rating: 4.5

He answered the call,
not of God, but of country.
Proudly standing tall
for the American Flag.

Defender of freedom,
and the American way,
with his patriot heart
and his love to play.

A hunger to learn
and protect till the end,
equally as much a boy
as a man.

Raised in his father’s eyes
and in his mother’s heart,
though miles sever,
they are never far apart.

Oh, patient mother, time shall pass,
as slowly as the change of seasons,
and your little boy will be home again,
with all his manly reasons.
