Peace Finds You Poem by Michele C. Messina Long

Peace Finds You

There are a lot of people out there looking for Peace.
My guess is no one ever told them the secret.

If I had a grandchild, I would sit them down beside me on a bench under the tree and whisper a fable in their ear:

“Sit still child! You don’t find peace, peace finds you, ”

With a knowing smile I’d continue,
“But first you need to get to the land of acceptance.

When you can accept the difference in your brother and still love him;

When you can accept that you are a part of something bigger and work together toward it;

When you can accept that there is abundance in the world, and learn to redistribute it with ease;

When you can accept that your ego is the smaller part of you, and unconditional love is your greater half,

You will be half-way there.

The next step on your journey is to walk through the valley of forgiveness,
Where the river of compassion flows from the tears of experiences.

Under the Tree of Life is a bench,
When you sit still, and “be” who you truly know yourself to be,
Peace will find you.”
