Peii Chow Poem by Siew Chion

Peii Chow

There's a girl by the name of Peii Chow,
In a remote city by the sea,
She's as white as the snow,
And her eyes big and deep,
She's my angel 17 years ago,
And nothing changes.

I was a lad and she's a maiden,
The time I was frightened
By love, so unbeknownst to her,
I kept it secret until now.

Now a chilly wind takes her away,
Far away to the north,
Away with our memories,
Left me nothing but lucid dreams,
They are too fading away.

'Peii', I cried in my dreams,
'Peii', the voice echos,
From the deep dark abyss,
So quickly it vanishes like a beam,
And nothing changes.
